Little black dress – Kelly O. Style

Hi friends!

I know it’s been a long two months since I have been on here and I apologize for leaving you all hanging… how rude of me, I know! I thought as my first outfit post back I would do something special. For those of you who don’t know I spent all of May and the beginning of June walking an 800 km pilgrimage across Spain and as you can imagine, I came back very excited to see my wonderful suitcase full of clothes again. On top of that, I moved from Paris to London and so I am trying to settle in to my new life.

After coming home from Spain, my body had totally changed and now all my clothes fit differently so I am kind of rediscovering my style. Since I seem to be in style crisis mode, I decided to start things out with a celebrity inspired post. I chose a celebrity who, when in high school I used to be mistaken for, Kelly Osbourne.

She has been in the public eye since before her teens and has been through the Hollywood ringer many times, criticized for her unique style, drug addictions but above all, her weight. Today Kelly has lost a great deal of weight and seems to have sorted her life out and is doing well. What I like most about her is that she never apologized for her size even when the media were eager for her to do so. In the end, the weight that she did lose was from dancing and performing, things that she loves doing. For me that’s how it should be done- you do something you love and if you change with it then so be it.

Kelly hits the red carpets in little black dresses and loves her accessories like big hats and fun jewelry. Since she’s got amazing dancer’s calves she always puts everything together with a fab pair of heels. Here is my interpretation…

Dress: Torrid (old collection)

Heels: New Look (Winter collection- black embossed)

Bowler Hat – Le Chateau (Canada)

Eyeliner and lipstick- Biguine Marilyn Monroe collection

Hoop Earrings and bird brooch – Primark

Look at the pretty sleeves!!! :)

Les jolies manches!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon! Gros bisous les filles et merci!

Vide Dressing Totally Swag

Hello! (Français en rose italics)

This past Sunday, 5 bloggers, including myself held a huge clothing sale here in Paris. We emptied our closets and sold our gently used items to friends, other bloggers and anyone who showed up. It was a great success and also really fun!

Not only was it a blast to spend the day with some of my most favourite people in Paris but my wonderful friends got together at the end and surprised me with a goodbye drink since I am leaving Paris in a week. I was so touched and tears were shed. I am going to miss all of you so much, but I promise I will come back and visit often! I feel so lucky to have met all of you and don`t think Paris would have been the same without you.

A bientôt!

OOTD!

Hello my lovelies! (Français en italics rose!)

I am back with a more serious outfit, if I can call it that. I am not a very serious person so anything I wear is usually influenced directly by my silliness- you can probably see the silly faces I am making in some of the photos below. I purchased this scarf from Asos last season and had yet to find an outfit that I like it with. I was feeling very inspired by all the floral prints I am seeing on other blogs so I decided to pull it out and match with a pair of floral wedges that I adore. I really like the shades and pastels mixed with florals and I like when there is a bit of pop to a simple outfit like I am wearing here.

Makeup – Coastal Scents 88 colour palette, Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara, Biguine Marilyn Monroe eyeliner

Scarf/Écharpe – Asos

Cardigan- UNIQLO

Top/Veste – GAP

Jeans – Second Denim ( I LOVE THESE JEANS!)

Espadrilles – No name/ Sans marque (bought/acheter Rue St.Denis, Paris)

 Merci !

OOTD: I want to ride my bicycle!

Hello lovelies!

Here is an outfit that I wore on a day where I really wasn’t sure if the weather people were telling the truth. It was supposed to be 20 degrees in Paris but I was sure that in the evening while I was out, it would go back down, so I pulled out the flannel shirt! As I have said before. plaid flannel shirt are one of my favourite things – it’s definitely the Canadian in me trying to get out.

Shirt – Evans

Skirt – H&M

Tights – Spanx

Cloth Bag – The Nottinghill Shopping Bag (Bought on Portobello Road in London)

Sneakers – no name (8 euro cheap shoes)

Thanks for stopping by!!

FTF Blog Event 4/6: Who I am

Hiya!

I am so excited to be participating in a blog event, this will be my first when it comes to online events, and I think it’s a really fantastic idea. There is a theme, and this time around it is  United Nations (Contra Unus) and a telling of how where you come from influences you. What I like best about this event is that each person interprets the theme as they like.  I have decided to do photo collages that I think sum up a lot about me.

I encourage you to check out Full Time Fabulous to see all the other entries and to read  the blog!

Here is my entry:

Let me introduce myself for those who don’t know me already. I am Canadian, from Toronto actually, living in Paris but soon moving to London. I have the travel bug, I can’t stay put. While I am in Europe, I am like a sponge, trying to absorb all the culture and experiences that I can. Paris is know for “la mode” and I took that to heart, and am now more of a fashion addict than I was when I was back in Canada. I am Canadian at heart, sporting my stereotypical plaid shirts on a weekly basis, saying sorry to everyone, often for things I haven’t done, and I am proud to say that I speak both national languages, English and French. The more I am away from home, the more I learn to appreciate it and to be thankful for all the wonderful things I have there.

(This little photos collage above shows 4 outfits of the day posted in the past on my blog and how many kilometers I am away from home at the moment based on what is calculated from the Eiffel Tower.)

A silly Facebook application told me that I have visited somewhere upwards of 9% of the globe, and I am looking to send that number into the double digits, and maybe one day hit 100%.

For now I go where I can, when I can.

(My little photo collage above shows me lying over a waterfall in Laos, lanterns in South Korea, The Great Wall of China, and a beautiful secluded beach in Thailand)

I truly believe that who you are and how you are is the product of what you have experienced. I like to think that we can all be humbled by something no matter how we grew up or what privileges we have been given. As a Canadian, I feel privileged to have an open door to almost anywhere in the world and am often welcomed with open arms. My dad has spent my entire life traveling back and forth from Asia, mostly China and Taiwan, and I think his tales of abroad are what shaped and developed my enormous curiosity for the world away. From my travels, I have always been able to find a common thing with someone I have met on the road, proving to me that we truly are all the same in some way and that our experiences shape us and mold us into who we are.

I would like to say a big thanks to Full Time Fabulous for creating this event! This post was really fun to create and I look forward to doing the next one!

Thanks for reading and come back soon!

xo CurvyKatie
